English II Honors (Period 5)
Course Description
The English II Honors curriculum covers American Literature from early writers such as Hawthorne and Twain to more modern writers such as Miller and Chopin.
This class is a more demanding and rigorous version of English II, formatted to prepare students for AP English junior and senior years. Students are expected to constantly be engaged in reading and writing independently outside of room 2 in order to prepare for class lessons.
Students will be immersed in poetry, short-stories, novels, and various non-fiction pieces to compare different styles and themes. Students will be asked to engage in lessons to improve their confidence speaking and listening in an academic setting. Students will also write constantly, both creatively and academically in different capacities to practice and build upon the skills they have been learning throughout their academic careers.
There will be a vocabulary test every "double day" that students are in room 2 for English II.
Each quarterly assessment will be worth 25% of the marking period grade.
