Welcome to the Weehawken High School Band site! The Weehawken band program is led by Band Director Natalie Kerr. The WHS Band is an award-winning program consisting of students in grades 7-12. Ensembles include Marching Band, Jazz Band, Concert Band, and small ensembles. The Marching Band participates annually in the Tournament of Bands competition program. They were awarded NY Metropolitan Regional Championships and Atlantic Coast Championships in Class 1A for their first year participating in this circuit, and were promoted to Group 1 Open Class for the 2017 season. NJ.Com also names Weehawken Marching Band as the top band in Hudson County in 2016. Past awards include 2015 USBands NJ State Champions Open Class Group 1 and In 2013, USBands Group 1A State and National Championships.
About the Director: Natalie Kerr is serving in her second year as director of bands at Weehawken High School. Mrs. Kerr is beginning her 16th year as a band director. She has taught band, Grades 3-12, in both New Jersey & North Carolina. Her bands have received Superior & Excellent ratings at Marching & Concert Band Festivals across the east coast. Mrs. Kerr graduated with Distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, receiving her Bachelor of Music Performance degree in 2000 as well as her Masters of Arts in Teaching in 2001. She received National Board Certification in EAYA Music in November of 2013. Mrs. Kerr has also performed with the West Morris Community Band and North Carolina Wind Orchestra on piano, tuba, and trumpet.
